ESSENCE SHEER & SHINE LIPSTICK REVIEW / ОБЗОР НА ПОМАДЫ SHEER & SHINE ОТ ESSENCE

One of my recent make up findings, that I really wanted to share with you is Sheer & Shine lipstick by Essence.

Let me just say: I haven't been happy with a lipstick as much for a very long time! 

Before I used to consider and buy only expensive lipsticks, such as: Dolce&Gabbana (you can read my review about their "Monica" lipsticks here ), Giorgio Armani, MAC etc.

However I must say I am getting tired of lipsticks (even the new ones) very quickly and either they start to annoy me and I stop wearing them (my colleagues will admit, - it is very often I do not wear any lip product at all) or I use them for special occasions only, - like Armani bright red.

I paid my attention to these Essence lipsticks thanks to recommendation from one of my favourite Russian-speaking Youtube bloggers: JustVell . I then tried them in one of my local Wilkinson stores and have chosen "I FEEL PRETTY" very deep  beautiful berry shade.

I absolutely love the texture, - it is soft and lightweight, you can layer and build up the colour. I always apply it on my lip balm though. 

I wear it nearly every day and am happy to apply it again and again, and it does not annoy me! (People who are not keen to wear a lip product, especially a glossy one will understand!)

It gives you a nice juicy shine (without feeling sticky!), does not dry your lips and makes a great statement as a main pop of colour.

Я очень рада поделиться с вами одной из своих последних косметических находок, - полупрозрачной помадой с блеском серии Sheer & Shine бренда Essence .

Я обратила внимание на этот продукт благодаря рекомендации одного из моих любимых русскоговорящих YouTube блоггеров, прекрасной JustVell .

До совсем еще недавнего времени, я приобретала помады исключительно класса люкс, например:  Dolce&Gabbana (кстати, мой обзор на их помады коллекции "Моника" можно посмотреть/прочитать тут ) , Giorgio Armani, или немного попроще, допустим из MAC. 

Однако я человек очень практичный и бережно относящийся к деньгам, поэтому меня всегда очень расстраивала чаще всего случающаяся со мной история: новые помады мне очень быстро надоедают, а их присутствие на губах часто начинает и вовсе раздражать. Мне очень сложно подобрать продукт для губ, с которым я бы долгое время чувствовала себя комфортно, который меня бы не напрягал...Чаще всего все новинки рано или поздно "заканчивают свою профессиональную карьеру" у меня в коробочке с косметикой, к которой я прибегаю исключительно редко,  раз в пару месяцев, если повезет.

Данная помада от Essence стала для меня настоящим исключением, оттого и такой восторг! С момента ее покупки в красивом, бордово-ягодном оттенке "I FEEL PRETTY", я с удовольствием пользовалась этим продуктом практический каждый день и получила множество комплиментов и вопросов о том, что это за помада!

Продукт имеет очень приятную и легкую текстуру, которую совершенно не ощущаешь на губах. При этом в жизни оттенки выглядят не столь ярко, как на фото: на губах они почти полупрозрачны, но, при желании, цвет можно сделать более интенсивным, просто добавив пару слоев. 

Это прекрасный яркий акцент в ежедневном макияже, создающий эффект "сочных", ухоженных и увлажненных губ. 

Правда, пожалуйста, примите во внимание тот факт, что я всегда наношу любую помаду/блеск поверх бальзама/уходового продукта, чтобы избежать прямого контакта губ с краской.

I also really like the fact, that on the Essence web page you can easily find all ingredients of the product:

As far as I understand, this is part of the brands philosophy: no secrets from consumers, all ingredients revealed.

I really wanted to compare it to Dolce's sheer lipstick ingredients, but unfortunately they do not reveal them even on the brands official page... Interesting why? MAC and Bobbi Brown also did not show me what their sheer lipsticks are made of. I am really keen to find out whether there is a decent difference, however I quite doubt that Essence products contain more chemicals than  e.g. MAC. ..(with all my respect to the brand!)

Please let me know in case you are an expert and could help me with this.

And.. hooray for animal lovers, - no testing on your beloved creatures! Respect! 

Now, last but not least, - one of the main reasons why these lipsticks are great is the price point. It is hard to believe, but retails price for these lipsticks is £2 !!!

Which means, if I hate it, - I just throw it away, without having another £25-35 product waiting for its "right time" in my make up box.

Насколько я поняла, это входит в философию бренда: ничего не скрывать, и позволять потребителю знать,  из чего сделан тот или иной продукт.

Я пыталась найти и сравнить составы увлажняющих полупрозрачных помад брендов Dolce, Bobbi Brown и MAC, однако мои попытки были безуспешны: ни на одном из официальных сайтов состав не оглашен, что, лично, у меня вызывает некоторые вопросы.

Мне было бы очень интересно узнать, насколько велико различие в составах, однако я уже почти уверенна, что в помаде Essence навряд ли больше химии, чем, например, в помаде такого же плана от MAC (при всем моем уважении к бренду!)).

Также, они не тестируют на животных.

А теперь, один из самых приятных факторов: цена! Не знаю, как обстоят дела в других странах, но в Англии эта помада стоит всего лишь 2 фунта! Дешевле, чем кофе в Starbucks! :)

Прекрасно осознавать, что, в случае если цвет не понравится или вдруг надоест, можно с чистой совестью этот продукт просто выкинуть и забыть, а не терять очередные 25-35 фунтов в виде пылящихся в косметическом ящике неиспользованных /недоиспользованных помад.

This time, my beauty column is dedicated to Dolce&Gabbana brand, and its "Monica" lipsticks in particular.

But before we go into product description, I thought it would be nice to find out first, who is that signature Dolce&Gabbana beauty? What's the look?

Women, that come to my mind first, are Scarlett Johansson, Monica Bellucci and Bianca Balti.

It's that incredibly sensual look that is being presented, I think of Dolce woman as warm, very attractive (so it is hardly possible to resist) and seemingly friendly/approachable, however these are only first impressions that often make a trick.

I believe that behind the angelic appearance, - seems like Dolce beauties could be one of the Michelangelo creations, it's that Italian Renaissance look, - there is also strong character with many demands to be pleased.

Beauty itself is a very powerful tool to achieve what you want and I think Dolce woman knows that well like no one else.

На этот раз, мой небольшой бьюти-обзор посвящен бренду Dolce&Gabbana, с особым акцентом на помаду из их коллекции "Monica".

Однако перед тем как приступить к описанию и моих впечатлениях непосредственно о продукте, я решила немного поразмышлять о том, какой образ несет в себе женщина бренда Dolce.  Кто она и каким характером обладает? 

Одни из первых красавиц,  которые приходят мне на ум при упоминании бренда, это, конечно, Моника Белуччи, Скарлетт Йохансон и модель Бьянка Балти.

Мне кажется, женщина в стиле Dolce является воплощением очень чувственного образа. Ее привлекательность настолько сильна, что чарам устоять практически невозможно. 

Однако за ангельской, безупречной внешней оболочкой скрывается стальной характер, чувство собственного достоинства и высокие требования, а порой и немного капризный характер... Однако чего не простишь настоящей красавице! 

Женщина Dolce как ни одна другая осознает, насколько сильным и мощным оружием может быть красота и умело использует это себе на пользу. 

Now back to the lipsticks :)

A little while ago I was in search of a perfect lipstick for everyday. Many options from different brands (Chanel, Hourglass, Dior, Bobby Brown etc.) were considered, however Dolce's "Monica" seemed to be the best to meet my needs.

This collection is named after brand's muse, - M. Bellucci, and is available in 9 shades, that are all beautiful to be fair! 

I wanted something pretty neutral so I could effortlessly wear to work, but not too nude, as while being naturally pale that would just blend with my skin tone. 

So for my everyday life I picked "Gentle Monica" shade, that instantly made me fell in love! 

It is a delicate and subtle shade, yet it provides you with a very rich and elegant colour and still make your lips pop. I believe that this collection's nude shades are the best to demonstrate the plumping effect of this lipstick as they enhance your natural lip shape and make them look fuller, but again, - in a very natural way!

Я находилась в поиске помады, идеально подходящей на каждый день, для работы. Что-то, что было бы достаточно нейтральным (чтобы не заморачиваться с нанесением), но в то же самое время не слишком белесым и светлым, так как такие оттенки мне не к лицу.

Рассмотрев и попробовав варианты от разных брендов (Chanel, Hourglass, Dior, Bobby Brown и т.д.), я пришла к выводу, что помады из серии "Monica" в исполнении Дольче отвечают моим требованиям лучше других.

Коллекция представлена в 9 оттенках (каждый из которых по-своему прекрасен)  и  посвящана давней музе бренда, красавице Беллуччи (отсюда и одноименное название - "Monica" .)

Цвет "Gentle Monica" покорил меня сразу, - насыщенный, благородный оттенок карамели, прекрасно подчеркивающий форму губ,  делая их немного полнее.

Думаю, что именно нюдовые оттенки данной коллекции как нельзя лучше демонстрируют эффект подчеркивания объема губ, обещанный производителем.

Then I also wanted something brighter, which made me to discover shade "Only Monica", - one of the most popular in this collection.

It's a beautiful pink that can be a show-stopper if you apply it generously and make it look very bright, however I do like putting it on top of my lip balm and make it more subtle. Due to this is a moisturising lipstick it might create an effect of a lip gloss as well! 

В качестве более яркого оттенка, я выбрала цвет "Only Monica", который оказался одним из самых популярных в линейке.

Это достаточно яркий, жизнеутверждающий розовый цвет, который, в зависимости от способа нанесения, может менять свою интенсивность от легкого, едва уловимого блеска и до очень насыщенного пигмента.

Днем я предпочитаю наносить (как бы легко вбивая) эту помаду поверх бальзама или гигиенической помады, получается эффект свежих и нежных губ,  - как цветок розы.

А для вечернего варианта, - несколько слоев (или даже один, просто плотный!), черные стрелки, - и вперед!

All in all I would definitely recommend you to consider these lipsticks, the texture is great (they won't dry your lips!), they last well, plump your lips and colours are rich and beautiful!

Дорогие друзья, я действительно могу порекомендовать вам эти помады для рассмотрения. Отличная текстура (они не сушат губы), плотный, насыщенный цветом пигмент, хорошая стойкость и красивая гамма оттенков!

Before we finish it off, I just would like to offer you a little visual inspiration. I admire how Dolce and Gabbana are celebrating such values as family (or shall I say grande famiglia? :)) in their campaigns and woman as a happy mother (especially in their Winter 2016 show) as well as seductive and beautiful wife.

И еще кое-что напоследок: на создание этого поста (впрочем, почти как и любого другого), ушло много энергии, сил и времени, которого катастрофически мало, друзья :)) Более того, со мной случился пренеприятнейший инцидент, во время которого уже практически готовый полный текст (на двух языках, прошу заметить!), был случайно удален, без какой-либо возможности восстановления... CHARLOTTE TILBURY MAKE UP: FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Recently most of my make up was done using Charlotte Tilbury products ( that everyone's currently talkin' about! ) .

For those who are interested these are my first impressions: 

1) Light Wonder Foundation (shade 2) has a nice liquidy texture, fairly light coverage (so concealer in my personal case is a must), quite shiny (non-matt!) finish and a very reasonsble price of £32 

2) Retoucher concealer (shade 2) can be used not only under the eyes but also to cover the blemishes, redness and any other imperfections. Liked a pleasant gentle texture suitable for a sensitive under-eye area

3) Airbrush flawless finish pressed powder (shade 1) is OK however I do prefer loose powders and I needed to touch up the T-zone fairly quick after as it got shiny 

4) famous Filmstar bronze and glow product: for me this product is a little bit too much for everyday  use however I believe it might be nice for evening going outs and photoshoots 

5) I quite liked the idea of a Colour Chameleon pencil (mine was Amber Haze) that is meant to enhance your eyes' natural colour 

6) And last but not least Full Fat Lashes mascara is really great! It's easy to apply and does not make your lashes feel heavy while is claiming to provide Curl-Separation-Length-Volume-Drama effect.

All in all my first impressions are in general positive, most probably I will be getting myself a foundation (however for me number one foundation is still Tom Ford), concealer, mascara and The Feline Flick (eyeliner pen). Still hesitating whether I should treat myself for a Colour Chameleon pencil (probably not this time).

What's inside my beauty kit? ♡ Что в моей косметичке?

I believe most of us (girls) always wonder what's inside someone else's beauty kits. (Well at least if I like that person's make up I normally do! ))

Just to share with you a little glimpse of what's in mine, please see my picture with according product description below.

Please note, that this is not everything, but just part of my everyday routine look beauty products.

Мне кажется большинству девушек, как и мне, всегда интересно украдкой заглянуть и узнать, какие же бьюти-секретики и продукты скрываются в косметичке наших подруг, коллег и знакомых... а также просто тех людей, чем макияж показался нам красивым и привлек внимание.

В связи с чем я решила сделать быстрый обзор/список тех продуктов (не всех, но большей их части), которые я использую практически ежедневно и которые всегда находятся в моей косметической сумочке с целью создания дневного макияжа, либо его трансформации в вечерний образ.

Trish McEvoy lash curling mascara

Colour: jet black 

One of my biggest beauty disappointments. Looking forward to finish it and come back to beloved Chanel Le Volume.

Эта тушь является одним из моих самых больших косметических разочарований... Приобрела ее, естественно, по рекомендации любимой Елены Крыгиной, однако жду не дождусь, когда использую до конца и вернусь к уже проверенной и для меня пока лучшей, - Chanel Le Volume)

Возможно сделаю более подробный образ и объясню, чего же мне в ней не хватило.

MAC penultimate eye liner 

Colour: rapid black
That's a good one! Bought it already for a second time! Very easy to use pen format. I apply eye pencil as a guidance first and then actual liner on top.

Прекрасный лайнер, нечего сказать! Покупаю его уже во второй раз и очень довольна! Формат "ручки-фломастера" очень удобен в использовании (рисовать стрелочки тонкой кисточкой я пока так и не научилась), поэтому вначале "намечаю" линию карандашом, а затем прокрашиваю ее лайнером! Рекомендую! 

Bobbi Brown illuminating bronzing powder 

Shade: Antigua (used as a blusher)
I was recommended to use this bronzer as a blusher, as my skin tone is quite pale and all the "pinks" might look just too bright on me. This product create a very natural appearance and matches with my cheek colour, when they become red as well as perfectly goes with my lips and compliments shades of new lipsticks.

Данный бронзер мне посоветовали использовать как румяна, поскольку я достаточно бледная.
На мне этот цвет смотрится очень красиво и естественно, совпадая с оттенком моего природного румянца и цветом губ, а также подходит к двум недавно приобретенным помадам.

Givenchy Acti'mine make up base 

Bought this for a second time already. Very nice base, lightweight texture and absorbing well. Has a delicate pleasant scent, signature for all this brand's products.

Отличная база под макияж, также приобретенная по наводке бьюти-гуру Крыгиной. Продукт очень нравится, расходуется экономно, быстро впитывается и обладает приятной легкой текстурой, а также ненавязчивым деликатным ароматом, свойственным косметике данного бренда.

Dolce&Gabbana Monica lipsticks

I was in search for perfect everyday lipsticks for a long time! Will make a post about these in the nearest future.

Хорошие увлажняющие помады, планирую сделать о них публикацию в скором времени!

Benefit Gimme brow gel 

Shade: light/medium
This famous gel is very handy, especially when you barely have any make up on but still want to create polished appearance.

Фиксирующий, и, одновременно тонирующий гель для бровей. Палочка-выручалочка на те случаи, когда макияжа на лице практически нет, а с помощью ухоженных бровей вид можно создать весьма приличный!

Givenchy Mister light instant light corrective pen 

Shade 3
One of my disappointments, as the packaging is absolutely inconvenient. You have to "turn" the pen for ages before the actual product comes out, which is quite irritating, especially when you are in a rush (e.g. in the morning).  Concealer itself is not too bed and looks quite natural, lasts for a decent time and absorbs quickly. But due to a silly packaging I am not planning to come back to this product ever again.

Высветляющий корректор (консилер) от Givenchy. Тоже небольшое разочарование - дурацкая, очень неудобная упаковка (ручку которой надо очень долго и упорно крутить, пока продукт наконец соизволит вылезти наружу) ! Сам корректор неплохой, впитывается быстро и хорошо держится. Однако из-за упаковки больше покупать не буду.

Givenchy Doctor White brightening loose powder

This lightweight powder is just wonderful! It looks very natural on the skin, lasts beautifully and smells like roses!

Очень нравится эта пудра! Легкая, невесомая по текстуре, незаметная на лице! И приятно пахнет какой-то свежестью и розами.

How I create my festive/evening make up (short tutorial).

Dear friends, 

this post was meant to be published before X-mas and NY`s eve, but due to the lack of time I`m posting it only now. Sorry for the "christmassy" pictures (hope it will not bring the winter blues :)) and also hope that information will be useful!

I want to thank Elena Krygina  (Елена Крыгина) for being my inspiration and virtual teacher, Sam Chapman (for being a great make up artist and creating Real Techniques brushes) & Nicola Haste from Pixiwoo and a fantastic MAC make up artist Vinton, - for being super professional&effective and helping me to choose the right shades/products in 1-2 minutes time (thank you for your help, I really appreciate it)!

And now, after words of gratitude have beed said, I think that it`s about right time to get started!

Recently I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of compliments that I received regarding my make up, which made me to came up with an idea about the post, dedicated to techniques, tools and products that I use to create my evening/festive look.

And speaking of make up, first of all I need to say a huge thanks to my current favorite make up artist Elena Krygina, who`s video (YouTube) lessons are just the best of the best (at least from what I`ve ever seen so far, - and believe me, I`ve seen quite a lot)! She is not only super professional and precise, but also has a wonderful sense of humor and a charisma, - such mix, that you just cannot resist.

So, as my beloved Elena K. would say, - "kAroche" :) (which means "long story short" in Russian), - let me go straight to business and start sharing with you all my "what&how" things ))

1. First of all I am applying a primer all over my face. I`m using PREP + PRIME FACE PROTECT SPF 50  from MAC in particular. If to be honest with you,  - I didn`t bother to use a primer before, as I thought it`s just "another extra product", "I don`t really need it" and "it`s too much" and blah blah blah ... but the one and only Krygina managed to persuade me and explain why this product is so necessary. Those of you, who understand Russian, please listen to what she says about the primers here , and those, who don`t, - consider primer as a:
1) component that links your decorative make up products with the skin, allows easy application and prolongs durability of your make up;

2) product, that evens out skin redness, makes pores and fine lines less visible and
3) protective "barrier" , that prevents your foundation to soak into your pores, as well as soothes the skin and absorbs all the extra oil.
By the way, speaking of extra oil: using a primer does not mean that you can skip application of your regular moisturizer/lotion/cream, as in that case in a long term you may end up with dehydrated/dry skin so make sure you use both products.

My results: since I`ve started to use a primer, a noticed a really big difference in how long my make up lasts and foundation doesn`t look "cakey"(which is very important). Sometimes I don`t even do any "touch ups" during the day. Also it`s more pleasant to apply your foundation on already prepared, velvety and smooth skin, - I, personally, can compare it to the base coat, that you put on your nails before actual nail polish.

2. In case I would  be doing my everyday, very natural so-called "no make up" make up, I wouldn`t be using any eye shadows and after primer I would apply a foundation and the rest of the products straight away. But since we are discussing more evening and sophisticated look here, an accent on eyes is a must. I always do the most difficult part, - eye make up, - first, especially if dark shadows are being used, which means that even if my eye shadows will fall onto my cheeks and my under-eye area during application, it all will be easily covered by concealer and foundation later and the final result will look much more polished and neat.

So next product to apply is eye primer. 

Why do you need to use an eye primer? 

The answer`s easy: thin layer of the eye primer neutralizes lid colour, makes lids look more even, prevents eye shadows from fading and creasing, makes the eye shadow easier to blend and allows your make up to last longer;

E.Krygina in her video lesson recommends PREP + PRIME EYE from MAC. I use PRO LONGWEAR PAINT POT  in shade Painterly, this product was advised to me by one of the MAC make up artists and I am very happy with it.

3.Next, - eye shadows. As a dark shade to accentuate my eyes I use deep plum color called Twinks from MAC and as a light shade, - Oasis Dew from BellaPierre (company, that specializes on mineral make up, highly recommend to pay attention!). Sometimes I mix it with another shade, called Coral Reef (see below on the picture), but I definitely prefer Oasis Dew which is more neony, and Coral Reef has more gold color. Always make sure you blend your shadows nicely, so no obvious lines would be seen.

 4. Eye Pencils. Without them your evening make up (even with the most fantastic eye shadows) will be unfinished, so make sure you don`t forget about these buddies when create your festive look.

I`m not a big fan of  black eye liners/eye pencils and I find it very sad, when most girls usually go particularly for that color, without even considering any other options to emphasize their eyes. For me, black is a bit too evident, and I believe that coffee/plumy/chocolaty shades can compliment my eyes much more. I use eye pencil from MAC in shade Coffee to line the upper eyelid and Kohl Power Eye Pencil from MAC in shade Feline on waterline.

5.Only after my eyes are done I apply my foundation and my concealer. I use Luminous silk foundation  from Armani, I do like lightweight texture of this foundation, it absorbs quite quickly and creates natural looking finish. And to cover my under-eye circles I opt for classics, - Touche Eclat from YSL.

6. After foundation I use my loose powder to mattify and set the make up. My current choice is Les voilettes mineral invisible skin fusion loose powder  from Guerlain. (It was difficult to take my own picture due to the "mirror" effect of the packaging finish. so please enjoy a professtional shot! :) )

7. Now (when you might think that it`s all done, but no, it`s not :)), moving on to Contouring. I will not explain now why contouring is important and how incredibly it impacts the way your make up look, I`d rather leave it to professionals, please see one of my favourite make up artist`s Samantha Chapman`s (a.k.a. part of the Pixiwoo project) video:

Following Elena Krygina`s recommendation, to darken the areas under my cheekbones, sides of my forehead, under my chin to define a jawline, a little bit sides of my nose and to give face a nice oval shape in general, I use Powder Blush from MAC in a shade Harmony, whereas to highlight particular areas (a dot on the top of my lip, on the bridge of my nose, above the cheekbones, in the middle of the forehead and under the eyebrow) I use Lustre Drops in a shade Pink Rebel from MAC.
As my highlighter is liquid, I apply my Sculpting blush from Make Up For Ever on the apples of my cheeks first (before the highlighter).

8. OK, now you`re amost there, don`t worry! :) The biggest part is done, now it`s just a little bit is left, - eyebrows and lips.
To define my eyebrows I brush them first nicely and then apply self-sharpening pencil from MAC in a shade Lingering (again, beautiful colour, which seems to be not too dark, but just right).
Important note: please-please-please, ladies, before doing your evening make up, make sure your eye brows look neat and polished, and correction (if necessary) is done. Otherwise in my (and not only my) opinion, there is no point in spending your time and energy on creating "The perfect look" with help of other good products, it`s without saying, -  eye brows play significant role on your face.

9. And yes, you are right, I haven`t applyed my mascara yet. And there is a reason for it: after we do our eye make up, lots of powdery textures are due to apply  (powder itself, blusher,contouring powder blush, sometimes a little bit of bronzer etc.) and if your eye lashes are already covered with mascara, you risk ending up with the effect of  "dusty" lashes. So if you really want your eyes to stand out, I would rather recommend to apply mascara at the very end of the process. At the moment I use Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara from Lancôme. (I might actually make a post about my favourite mascaras in the future).

9. "L" is for lipstick. But pencil comes first. I use lip pencil in Plum colour and a  satin lipstick in Faux shade, all from MAC.

Sometimes I also apply  a little bit of Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector from CLARINS.This award winning lip balm not only has a very nice scent, but also nourish my lips, makes them look smooth and plump and doesn`t feel sticky it all (which I find very important)! I often wear this product on my lips alone, it`s perfect both for daytime or to compliment your evening look.

10. And last, but not least, - these are the only brushes that I use. (Although I`m looking forward to extend collection :))

1) Bellapierre eyeshadow brush made from natural hair (to apply the main colours on my lids)
2) Real Techniques base-flawless expert face brush for my liquid foundation
3) MAC brush, that I use for blending my eye-shadows (unfortunately it`s quite old, so I can`t see the number)
4) Real techniques Blush brush (to do contouring and to apply my blusher/bronzer later), - I know, I know, I know, that I am meant to use other brushes for contouring :)
